Gary Franklin joined the BS/EACD Board in May 2006 as the Director of Precinct 2. Gary lives in Shady Hollow and works as a project manager for LCRA's Environmental Laboratory. Before joining LCRA, Franklin worked as a Natural Resources Specialist at the Texas Water Development Board for almost 8 years, and before that, was involved as a Research Assistant in evaluating best management practices for the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research. He has B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, and a Masters degree in Environmental Science from there as well.
Gary is happily married to his wife of 7 years, Melinda, and has a dog and some resident turtles. He is a native landscaping enthusiast, as reflected in his backyard habitat. In addition, he is a member of the Austin Geological Society and has been very active in the Texas Water Monitoring Council.
