Director Profile:
What brought you into the environmental and groundwater resources management world?
I came to the environmental world through my own curiosity via the Save Barton Creek Association. Jackie and I got involved basically volunteering to work on environmental issues mainly regarding the Edwards Aquifer and the protection of Barton Springs. A friend suggested that I run for the District Board when Pct. 4 come up for its first election. I never had any intention of running for office but my friend insisted so I ran and won and have been there ever since.
What would you like to see the District accomplish in the next 5 to 10 years?
I'd like to see us continue to work on our DFCs, initiate a desalination program for groundwater east of the 'bad water line', get meaningful legislation passed for the better protection and conservation of groundwaer in Texas and for our particular District.
What do you see as the biggest challenge for the District?
Our greatest challenge is to get meaningful positive legislation passed through the State Legislature.
How do you and your family conserve water?
Probably the most significant conservation method we employ at home is we have let our front and back lawns go completely to ivy thus requiring absolutely no outside watering by us.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love to travel. I would like to go all over the entire world.
