Once Every Five-Day Watering Schedules

Did you know that more plants and turf die from over-watering than lack of water? One inch over the course of a week (1/2 inch twice a week) is enough water to keep turf grass alive in our area. Follow this watering schedule to maximize your water dollars.

Summer Watering Schedule (April - Sept.)

To use the calendar, find the last number of your street address in the first column and then read across to the current month to find your watering day. Next, find out how much water your lawn receives when you turn on your sprinklers. To do this, set out several cans around the lawn before watering; tuna or cat food cans are a good size. Set a timer for 15 minutes and turn on the water. At the end of 15 minutes, measure how much water is in each can. Average those measurements and round to the nearest quarter of an inch. This measurement tells you how much water your irrigation system puts out in 15 minutes.

Save money and help protect your landscape by checking for broken or misdirected sprinkler heads, installing rain sensors, and managing your irrigation controller box.
